HI, I’M SARAH.

I’m a registered social worker and psychotherapist and I specialize in working with women and teen girls (ages 16-19). Through embodied psychotherapy I will help you manage difficult life transitions with greater capacity, understanding and a sense of wholeness.

 MY APPROACH

Embodiment is the conscious and active practice of attending to how feeling and experience land in our bodies. Through a somatic informed, body centered approach, the goal is to bring more of the unconscious into consciousness. Together, we will develop a deeper understanding of what drives you, build your capacity to meet challenges and navigate your life with more authenticity. In therapy we will slow down, come back into yourself and really notice what your true experience is. The result? We will seek to build your resilience so that you can live a more connected, authentic, happier, and bountiful life.

Therapy that is integrative, resonate, and modern.

I seek to understand the whole person and am informed by an anti-oppressive lens that is rooted in social justice. I am LGBTQ+ affirming. I stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.

I am here to help mothers build their resilience, to seek their strength and lean into their innate wisdom. Therapy with an expansive wellness approach to the post-natal experience. Step One

Let's begin with a consultation. Consultations are always free and take about 15 minutes. This is an opportunity for us to chat before you decide to schedule. During this call, we will get a chance to connect, find out a bit more about you, and get a feel for if we are the right fit.

Step Two

Once we decide it is the right fit to work together, we will schedule your first session (virtually or in-person). During our first session we will dive deeper into your current situation, what you’ve been struggling with and some of your goals for therapy. It’s also a time for you to ask me questions about the process.

 Step Three

Initially, we will meet weekly (virtually or in-person) and spend time diving deeply into areas of your life that you seek support for. We will sit together and explore who you are and your concerns so that I can get an understanding of what life has been like for you lately. Depending on your needs, sessions will continue either weekly or bi-weekly.

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What kind of commitment do I need to make?

I ask clients to commit to weekly therapy for a minimum of 8-10 weeks. This allows for more accountability to the process and for transformation to take root. After 8-10 weeks, we can discuss changing the frequency of sessions.

What is your cancelation policy?

Life can sometimes be unpredictable and I understand that. I ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel. The full session will be charged if an appointment is missed.

Does something have to be "wrong" for me to benefit from therapy?

No, not at all. The work we do can be much more than looking into a specific problem. It can be about seeking greater knowledge of yourself and who you are. Sometimes starting therapy when we feel good is the best time! Think of it like a vitamin boost for your mental health!

Do you offer sliding scale?

Yes, I have a limited number of spaces for sliding scale. Priority will be given to BIPOC and trans folk.

Is therapy covered under my insurance benefits?

Therapy offered by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) is commonly covered under major insurance plans. I encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to be sure.

Do you invoice my insurance directly?

No, I do not do direct billing. After each session I will provide you with an invoice with my registration number that you submit for reimbursement to your insurance company.

Are your services tax deductible?

Yes. Therapy provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) has been eligible to be claimed as a medical expense when filing your income tax return since September 26, 2012. Registered Social Workers are considered "medical practitioners" for the purposes of claiming medical expenses on your tax return.

What are your rates? How do I make a payment?

Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length and are a $170 investment per session. Payments are accepted in the form of e-transfer.

How are therapy sessions offered?

As we all collectively manage the COVID-19 pandemic, services are offered both virtually and in-person in Waterloo following the requirements and protocols of the Ministry of Health and in consideration of the directives of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Therapy services are offered only to Ontario residents, although some exceptions may apply.
